Just to let everyone know there was not enough wind last night to complete a
race.  Bummer.

Attached is the current Leader Board for the 2017 season. You should take
note of several things:

  • Zoom & Pentimento from Shattemuc are leading the non-spinnaker

division. Unfortunately they can't qualify for the overall NBC racing awards
because they are not Club members. They do qualify for Fleet awards,
however, for Wednesdays and Sundays.

  • Zoom & Pentimento are leading because they have had the best

attendance for both Wednesday and Sunday racing. They don't always win, but
the more you race, the better you do on the leader Board.

  • The spinnaker group has completed 15 races, mostly Wednesday night

racing. This is known as "low hanging fruit" for those who come out to race
on Sundays between now and the end of the season.

  • So far the non-spinnaker group has completed 32 races, more than

twice as many as the spinnaker group.

  • Throw-outs will not be calculated until the end of the racing

season in mid-October (one throw-out per five races).

  • The 2017 Club racing trophies (1st, 2nd, 3rd) are won by those

boats that race the most, not necessarily by those who always win on
Wednesdays.

  • Just because you race on a spinnaker course, does not mean you have

to fly a spinnaker. For example, you may not have the right crew to put up a
chute. But you do get points for completing the spinnaker course.

  • There are at least 15 - 20 races left before the end of the 2017

season.

  • See you on the water!
