To All -

Here are the Sunday racing results to date. Sorry we haven't stayed on top
of issuing them.

Sunday racing is very special - usually only a few boats come out and there
is more than one race. That means you can have a second chance to correct
your mistakes, or the winner of the first race has a chance to make more
mistakes. Sunday racing is a great time to practice starting techniques,
train new crew, get to know your neighbors better, or spend quality time
with your children. So far all of the Sunday racing boats have sailed
non-spinnaker, but I'm hoping some of you will start practicing spinnaker
techniques, too.

On another subject, Richard Gressle let us know that last night

one Of Dave Otterbein's crew on Breakaway had a serious medical problem that
required immediate attention in Haverstraw. Of note was that no one on
Breakaway knew the medical history of the person taken sick, or could answer
very important questions asked by the EMTs.

So that brings up some thoughts - most of us don't know our crew

well enough to ask intimate medical questions, nor do we really want to.
Morris thought perhaps we could ask our crew to fill out a simple index card
with emergency contact information, and perhaps some critical medical
information if applicable. Deb Hertzog is checking into cell phone apps that
can record important medical history, available instantly if required. This
is one time when it might pay off to be proactive in advance. All of these
are good ideas, and we're looking for more.
