To All -

Attached are the racing results for last Sunday (August 6th) and tonight,
Wednesday, August 9th. By all reports, two wonderful days for sailing.
Sunday continues to be lightly attended and all I can say is What a shame
you guys aren't out there.

So let's talk about tonight - the forecast was for light air and if we had
taken a poll, I'm sure most would have guessed there was a good chance of
not completing any course within the two hour time limit. With a light
southerly, Mike & Holly chose course 12X (?). In case you forgot, an X after
a course number means go to the first mark and return to the starting line
for a quick windward/leeward. And wouldn't you know it, just before the
non-spinnaker start the wind piped up really nicely, and most completed the
course down to mark C and back within 25 minutes. Talk about a quickie! So
the Race Committee offered to run a second Wednesday night race just for
fun. Thanks, guys.

But the highlight of the evening had to be seeing Jeff Levy's beautiful Cape
Cod cat boat, Gannet, out there racing again. Jeff raced a few weeks ago,
and got a valid PHRF. I believe Gannet is the only wooden sailboat at NBC,
and she is a beauty. So welcome. Jeff. We're thrilled you're racing on
Wednesday nights.

Just a reminder - this Saturday is the annual Cruising Fleet Pier Party and
it looks like the weather is going to be perfect. There is no charge for
Cruising Fleet members and their families, so we hope to see everyone there.
Appetizers, dinner, dessert and an open bar start at 5 pm. The party theme
will be announced roughly 48 hours before the festivities for those who want
to get with the theme. For non-member reservations, please contact Karen
Horton or Joe Glogiewicz as soon as possible.
